Walk with us: Dungeness to Bulverhythe

Last August, we unveiled a spectacular display of 500 naturally dyed pennants, planted on the West Hill, high above Hastings Old Town and beach. The flags could be seen from the hill from far distances across the town and audiences were captivated by the sight of them.
The event started with a procession from the Old Bathing Pool site at West St Leonards. A flag-bearing parade made its way along the seafront to St Leonards, to the Old Town and then up to Hastings’ West Hill.
On the West Hill, visitors took part in a creative, family-friendly drop-in workshop run by Radiator Arts. Artists of all ages created their own small-scale version of the flags on hand-dyed seed paper.
This programme climaxed the first stage of the work theme that ran on from The Sea Beneath and which will inform the next stage of our work.
This May and June, we are running a series of four walks & talks offering a deep dive into some of the most beautiful and ecologically rich habitats at Dungeness, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, Hastings Country Park and Bulverhythe’s Combe Valley. Come and walk with us and learn about the fascinating bio-diversity of these different environments along our coastline.
